U/W NPP Execs to receive Akufo-Addo

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in the Upper West Region has rescinded an earlier decision to boycott the planned tour of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The executives led by Secretary Dr. Dauda Tanko Daniel had accused the regional minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, of sidelining them in planning the official tour of President Akufo-Addo.

They accuse Dr Bin Salih of planning the tour, which starts on Sunday, August 21, with past executives of the party.

The regional minister has since denied the accusations.

“I was surprised to hear from a group of NPP regional executive where they indicated that I have decided to run a one-man show,” he told TV3 on Thursday, August 18.

“That is strange. I have consistently updated the regional chairman [and] regional secretary about the plan.”

After a meeting between the two parties later that day, the regional executives have backtracked on their stance.

“We are urging all party supporters to get themselves ready to welcome His Excellency the President to the region,” a statement issued on Thursday after the meeting said.

“We love our President and would welcome every opportunity that is offered us to receive him in the Region.”

The tour is expected to end on Tuesday, August 23.
