EC to start registration exercise on September 12

The election commission (EC) has declared that the voters registration period for 18-year-olds will run from Tuesday, September 12, to Monday, Oct. 2, 2023 and will be held in all 268 district offices throughout the country.

This information was released by the Commission at a news conference in Accra titled "Let the Citizen Know."

The replacement voter ID card will cost GHC10, according to the EC.

The head of the electoral commission, Jean Mensa, stated in a statement to press, "The voter's registration exercise will afford Ghanaians who have reached the age of 18 since the last registration in 2020 and those who are over 18 but couldn't register during the 2020 registration exercise.

"The EC will start the voter registration process in each of the Commission's 268 district offices. The training will take place between September 12 and October 2.

Jean Mensa added that the District Level Assembly Elections (DLE) will take place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

The polls will be held in all districts in the Bono region, with the exception of Nkoranza North and South, and in all 6,272 electoral zones, according to the chairperson of the electoral commission.

Elections won't be held in any district until 2025, claims Jean Mensa.
