NPP responds to Alan Kyerematen's departure

The ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed its disappointment over the resignation of one of its stalwarts, Alan Kwadwa Kyerematen.

Mr. Kyerematen has declared his resignation from the governing party, and has also declared his intention to stand as an independent candidate in the next year's presidential election.

The announcement came after the former Trade and Industry Minister pulled out of the party's presidential primary, claiming intimidation and a "rigged" process to favor one candidate, widely believed to be Vice-President Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia.

Following the announcement of the decision by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday, 25 September, the party issued a statement from its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Fimpong, in which he encouraged its members to remain composed.

The NPP leadership has been made aware of the sad news that a long-time NPP member, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, has decided to give up his membership and run for president as an independent in the 2024 election.

The leadership of the party is appealing to its members to remain composed and wait for an official statement from the party regarding the resignation of Mr. Yerematen on Tuesday, 26th September 2023, at the party headquarters.
