Avoid pre-primary delegate camping - NPP warns parliamentary aspirants

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has recently issued a stern warning to parliamentary aspirants who are considering busing or camping delegates ahead of the upcoming primaries scheduled for Saturday. The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has unequivocally cautioned aspirants that any engagement in such activities will result in facing sanctions.

This announcement comes in the wake of a series of guidelines that have been put in place by the party in preparation for the Parliamentary primaries set to take place on January 27. In addition to this warning, the party is also working diligently to address all outstanding petitions that have been filed by certain disgruntled party members regarding concerns related to the primaries.

Mr. Frimpong Kodua, while addressing journalists in Kumasi, emphasized the need for delegates to refrain from using their phones to capture their ballots after voting. Furthermore, the party has made it clear that elections will be conducted in the Nhyiaeso Constituency following the resolution of a court case against the party by a polling station executive from that constituency.

In an effort to ensure free and fair elections, the NPP has established rules and regulations aimed at upholding the integrity of the electoral process. It has been explicitly stated that no candidate should attempt to camp delegates at any location, and individuals who are found taking pictures of their votes will not only have their votes nullified but will also face legal consequences.

Moreover, Mr. Frimpong Kodua revealed that he is leading a delegation of party officials to the Manhyia Palace in response to alleged comments made by the party's Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, against the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu. Additionally, NPP supporters have been advised to refrain from making any public statements that could be deemed derogatory towards the Chieftaincy institution.

It is evident that the NPP is committed to upholding the principles of democracy and ensuring that its internal processes are conducted with transparency and fairness. As the party prepares for the upcoming primaries, it is imperative that all stakeholders adhere to the established guidelines in order to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
