In a recent development, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has implemented a significant reshuffle within his cabinet, resulting in the reassignment of several ministers and deputy ministers. This decision, which was communicated through a statement released on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, marks a pivotal moment in the administration's governance structure.



According to Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, a total of 9 ministers and 8 deputy ministers have been affected by this reshuffle. Additionally, 4 other ministers and 2 deputy ministers have been reassigned to different portfolios, signifying a comprehensive realignment of responsibilities within the government.


Notable changes include the reassignment of Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who previously served as the Information Minister, to the Works and Housing portfolio, while Francis Asenso Boakye, the former Works and Housing Minister, has been moved to the Roads and Highways Ministry. Furthermore, Ambrose Dery, the Interior Minister, has been relocated to the Office of the President in the capacity of a Minister of State.


Moreover, the reshuffle has seen the elevation of Deputy Information Minister, Ms. Fatimatu Abubakar, who has now been designated as the Minister for the Ministry of Information. Similarly, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, the Deputy Minister of Energy, has been promoted to the position of Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts, and Culture.


The comprehensive list of ministers relieved of their positions includes Ken Ofori-Atta (Finance Minister), Kwaku Agyemang-Manu (Health Minister), Dr. Kwaku Afriyie (Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister), Kwasi Amoako-Atta (Roads and Highways Minister), Lariba Abudu (Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister), Dan Botwe (Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development Minister), Freda Prempeh (Sanitation and Water Resources Minister), Ibrahim Mohammed Awal (Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister), and Mr. Joseph Makubu (Oti Region).


Similarly, the list of deputy ministers relieved of their positions includes Collins Ntim Aboagye (Deputy Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development Minister), Ama Pomaa Boateng (Deputy Communications and Digitalisation Minister), Tina Mensah and Mohammed Asei Seini (Deputy Health Ministers), Benito Owusu Bio (Deputy Lands and Natural Resources Minister), Moses Anim (Deputy Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Minister), William Owuraku Aidoo (Deputy Energy Minister), Gifty Twum Ampofo (Deputy Education Minister), and Bright Wireko-Brobbey (Deputy Employment and Labour Relations Minister).
