Farmer butchered to death by unknown person at Devegodo in Anloga

We are deeply saddened to report a tragic incident that occurred in the Shime area of Anloga District, where a man identified as Maxwell Dzormatsi was brutally murdered on his farm. The victim, believed to be in his early 40s, succumbed to severe bleeding from cutlass wounds sustained on Wednesday, February 21.

According to eyewitnesses, the unfortunate event unfolded around 1200 hours when two men trespassed onto the victim's farm to fish in a pond he had dug. Upon discovering the unauthorized entry, Mr. Dzormatsi attempted to intervene but was viciously attacked by one of the intruders with a cutlass.

Despite efforts by onlookers and one of the trespassers to rush the victim to Adutor clinic for medical attention, he tragically passed away upon arrival. This senseless act has left the community in mourning and has prompted a plea from Mr. Joseph Kwabla Kpattah, Presiding Member of Anloga District Assembly, for public assistance in locating the suspect, who is currently evading authorities.

Expressing heartfelt condolences, Mr. Kpattah assured the family of the deceased and the community that every effort would be made to ensure that justice is served. The local police have confirmed the incident and have conveyed that the victim's body has been transferred to the Keta Hospital morgue. It is particularly distressing to note that Mr. Dzormatsi leaves behind a wife and four children.

This appalling act of violence has undoubtedly shaken the community, and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Maxwell Dzormatsi during this difficult time. We join in the collective hope for swift justice and resolution in the face of such a grievous loss.
