We regret to report that President Akufo-Addo’s convoy has been involved in a fatal accident, resulting in the tragic loss of one individual. The incident occurred along the Bunso-Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway as the convoy was returning from Kumasi after accompanying the President to various events over the weekend.
The unfortunate accident claimed the life of Mr. Kwesi Atta, one of the drivers within the convoy. In addition, several members of the President’s security detail, including close protection and police officers, sustained injuries of varying degrees and received initial treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of Mr. Kwesi Atta, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to them during this difficult time. We also wish a swift and full recovery to those who were injured in the accident.
The Presidency is deeply saddened by this tragic event and is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
