Mahama Revokes Appointment of MIIF CEO, Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng

President John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointment of Edward Nana Yaw Koranteng as the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income and Investment Fund (MIIF), effective immediately.

The decision was communicated in a letter dated January 13, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama.  The letter directed Mr. Koranteng to hand over all responsibilities to Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the government's representative from the Ministry of Finance.  Dr. Forson will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is appointed.

While the letter did not specify reasons for the revocation, it acknowledged Mr. Koranteng's service to Ghana and expressed the President's gratitude for his contributions during his tenure at the MIIF.

The MIIF, a crucial entity responsible for managing Ghana's mineral revenues, will now be under the temporary leadership of Dr. Forson.  His appointment as interim CEO signifies the government's commitment to ensuring the continued smooth operation of the Fund during this transition period.

The search for a new CEO is expected to commence shortly.  Further details regarding the selection process and timeline are yet to be released.  This development is likely to spark discussion and speculation within Ghana's political and economic circles.  The nation awaits further clarification from the government regarding the circumstances surrounding this unexpected change in leadership at the MIIF.
