Land Dispute in Adjiringanor: A Case of Alleged Illegal Occupation and Defiance

The Greater Accra Police Command recently made a significant breakthrough in addressing a complex land dispute in the Adjiringanor area of the Adentan Municipality. Three individuals, purportedly acting as land guards, were apprehended for their involvement in a contentious property occupation despite a police order for both parties to refrain from any activities on the land.

The genesis of this dispute was brought to light when Starr News reported an alleged attempt by individuals claiming to hold a judgment in the name of the Akwraboye Doku Family to forcefully take over a piece of land belonging to 83-year-old Paul Sacky. The situation escalated when it was revealed that Mr. Sacky's 7-bedroom uncompleted property had been demolished, and another 3-bedroom structure had been taken over by individuals operating as land guards in the name of businesswoman Sarah Agyaa Owusu-Ansah and Michael Adjei, who identified himself as the secretary to the Akwraboye Doku Family.

Despite denials from the accused parties, the family of Paul Sacky, led by Mrs. Yaa Serwah Dumashie, expressed their dissatisfaction and sought intervention from the Greater Accra Regional Police Command. The Regional Crime Officer promptly ordered both parties to stay off the land and initiated steps to obtain the certified copy of the official judgment plan from the Judiciary.

However, Mrs. Dumashie revealed that despite the police directive, workers under the protection of land guards continued to develop the land, obstructing any attempts to halt their activities. She further highlighted that a 3-bedroom house on the land was still being occupied by the land guards, effectively denying the family access to their property.

In a surprising turn of events, Mrs. Dumashie alleged that there were influential figures supporting the actions of Sarah Agyaa Owusu-Ansah, indicating a possible defiance of the police directive. She specifically mentioned alleged support from individuals within the police hierarchy, urging the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene and ensure justice for their family.

Further complicating the matter, Yaw Mireku of Allied Rocks Company Limited, who accompanied Uncle Paul Sacky in 2019 to regularize the land based on the judgment secured by the Akwraboye Doku Family, expressed bewilderment at the ongoing contention over the property's ownership.

The situation at Adjiringanor underscores a pressing need for a thorough and impartial investigation to unravel the complexities surrounding this dispute. It is imperative for all involved parties to respect the rule of law and adhere to legal directives. The allegations of influential backing behind the actions of one party also warrant a comprehensive inquiry to uphold transparency and fairness in resolving this matter.

As this case unfolds, it is crucial for law enforcement authorities to uphold their commitment to justice and diligently address any perceived impropriety. The adherence to legal processes and the fair resolution of disputes are fundamental pillars of a just society, and it is incumbent upon all stakeholders to ensure that these principles are upheld in this particular case.

The gravity of the allegations and the impact on Mr. Paul Sacky and his family necessitate a swift and thorough investigation to ascertain the veracity of the claims and ensure that justice prevails. The overarching goal should be to bring about a resolution that upholds the rights of all parties involved and restores peace and security in the affected community.
