Remembering ET Mensah: A Statesman's Final Journey



Today, we gather to bid farewell to a distinguished statesman, Enoch Teye Mensah, who served as the Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency and was a member of the Council of State. The burial service for ET Mensah is currently underway at the Forecourt of the State House, drawing numerous dignitaries and individuals from various spheres of society.


The passing of Mr. Mensah in October 2023 at the age of 77 marked the end of a significant chapter in Ghana's political landscape. His enduring legacy and contributions to the nation continue to resonate as we honor his memory.


Among the esteemed attendees are President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President John Dramani Mahama, and a multitude of personalities representing diverse political affiliations and societal roles.


In the days leading up to this final farewell, ET Mensah's body was honored with a procession through some of his properties and businesses, a poignant reminder of his enduring impact on the community. A vigil service was also held in Prampram on Friday, providing an opportunity for friends, family, and well-wishers to pay their respects.


Looking ahead, a thanksgiving service is scheduled to take place at the Methodist Church in Prampram on Sunday, January 7, 2024, offering a moment for reflection and gratitude for the life and service of this esteemed individual.


Enoch Teye Mensah's tenure as a Minister for Education and Member of Parliament from January 1997 to January 2017 exemplified his unwavering commitment to public service. Throughout his career, he held various government portfolios and remained dedicated to the betterment of his constituency and the nation at large. His impact extended beyond politics, as he was affectionately known as ET Mensah and cherished as a family man, survived by his wife and seven children.


As we come together to honor ET Mensah's life and legacy, let us carry forward his spirit of dedication and service to our communities. May his memory inspire us to strive for the betterment of our nation and uphold the values he held dear.
