We are deeply saddened by the tragic motor accident that occurred on Friday 15th March 2024, along the Juaso – Nkawkaw road, resulting in the loss of twenty-one lives. The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that the accident involved a Ford Transit Mini Bus and a VW Sprinter Bus, leading to the unfortunate demise of both drivers and passengers.
Initial investigations have revealed that the deceased driver of the Ford Transit Mini Bus, Yaw Egyiri, was overtaking vehicles in a reckless manner when the collision occurred with the oncoming VW Sprinter Bus. This collision has left several individuals critically injured, and they are currently receiving medical care at various hospitals including the Juaso Government Hospital, Stewards Hospital at Yawkwei, Konongo Municipal Hospital, and Asante Akim Agogo Presbyterian Hospital.
Tragically, the bodies of the deceased have been placed in the mortuaries of Stewards Hospital at Yawkwei, Konongo Municipal Hospital, and Juaso Government Hospital for identification, preservation, and autopsy.
In light of this devastating incident, we urge families with missing relatives who may have been traveling along this route to contact the Juaso and Nkawkaw Police commands for assistance in identifying the victims of the accident. It is imperative that we come together to support those affected by this tragedy.
As we mourn the loss of these individuals, we implore all road users to uphold discipline, demonstrate compassion, and adhere to road safety regulations to prevent such avoidable accidents in the future.
