Number 12 Documentary: I will name those who paid Anas to bring me down at the right time – Nyantakyi

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has recently made headlines with his intention to reveal the individuals in Ghana responsible for the production of the controversial ‘Number 12’ documentary by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his TigerEye PI team. The documentary, which premiered on June 6, 2018, aimed to expose the pervasive corruption within football administration in Ghana and resulted in the indictment of then GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

In the aftermath of the documentary, Mr. Nyantakyi faced severe repercussions, including a 15-year ban from all football activities. However, he has now expressed his determination to disclose the identities of those who orchestrated the production of the documentary, alleging that they were financially motivated. In a recent interview with Captain Smart, host of Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, Mr. Nyantakyi stated, “There are some people behind that in this country and I will name them at the right time.”

Furthermore, Mr. Nyantakyi has revealed his interest in entering politics and potentially replacing the late lawmaker John Kumah in the Ejisu constituency. He emphasized his commitment to reviving football if he assumes the role of a Member of Parliament, citing his previous experience as the President of the GFA and his legal background as valuable assets in contributing to the development of sports, particularly football.

Despite being banned from football activities, Mr. Nyantakyi remains actively engaged with officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA. He disclosed that he is currently pursuing an appeals process to overturn the 15-year ban imposed on him by FIFA.

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares to open nominations for the Ejisu primary, Mr. Nyantakyi has indicated that delegates have resolved to obtain nomination forms on his behalf.

The unfolding developments surrounding Kwesi Nyantakyi and his potential entry into politics alongside his ongoing efforts to challenge the ban imposed on him have captured public attention. The intersection of sports, politics, and ethics continues to be a compelling narrative in Ghanaian society.

Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story as Mr. Nyantakyi navigates the intersection of sports and politics in Ghana.
