‘It’s just business, not politics’ – Olivetheboy clarifies performance at NDC Youth Manifesto Launch

In response to the recent controversy surrounding his performance at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Manifesto launch, up-and-coming Ghanaian artist Olivetheboy has addressed the speculations and clarified his position. Amidst assumptions of political affiliations, Olivetheboy has firmly asserted that his involvement in the event was purely professional.

During an interview on Okay FM, which was closely monitored by StarrFm.com.gh, Olivetheboy emphasized that his performance should not be misconstrued as an endorsement of any political party. He explained that his participation was a result of an invitation from Sharaf Mahama, the son of former President John Mahama, and that he viewed it as a straightforward business engagement.

"I was hired to perform, just like I am billed at Afrochella or any other event. My performance is not tied to any political endorsement," he clarified.

Olivetheboy further reiterated his apolitical stance, affirming his willingness to perform for any political party if approached. "If NPP calls me today, I will perform. If CPP comes tomorrow, I will still go and perform. I have friends from all political parties, and if I have been hired to perform, I surely will," he added.

In response to critics questioning his decision, the artist remained composed, highlighting that his loyal fans understand his focus on his career and the necessity to earn a living. "I see all the critics and I don’t even bother myself to respond, my fans will do that for me. I also have fans who know it’s purely business because I need to make some money," he concluded.

Olivetheboy's statements aim to dispel any misconceptions and reaffirm his dedication to his music career, irrespective of political affiliations.

The artist's clear articulation of his professional approach serves to underscore the importance of separating personal beliefs from professional engagements. As Olivetheboy continues to navigate his burgeoning music career, it is evident that his commitment to artistic expression remains unwavering, regardless of external perceptions.

In an industry often intertwined with political and social dynamics, Olivetheboy's steadfast focus on his craft serves as a testament to the resilience and professionalism of emerging talents in the Ghanaian music scene.
