We are pleased to announce that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially commissioned the GOIL/SMB Bitumen Plant in Tema on Thursday, September 12. This significant event marks a proud milestone in Ghana’s journey towards industrialization and regional integration.
The state-of-the-art facility, established through a partnership between Ghana’s GOIL PLC and Côte d’Ivoire’s Société Multinationale de Bitumes (SMB), stands as the largest bitumen processing plant in the country. President Akufo-Addo emphasized the plant's critical role in enhancing Ghana’s infrastructure development.
With a total investment of $40 million, this project is poised to not only meet the increasing domestic demand for bitumen products but also position Ghana as a key exporter to the West African region. This underscores the plant's significance in contributing to the economic growth and development of the nation.
Following the commissioning, President Akufo-Addo took to Facebook to express his delight at being joined by the Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, His Excellency Robert Beugré Mambé, who represented President Alassane Ouattara. The collaboration between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, exemplified by this joint venture, reflects a shared vision for mutual prosperity and development.
This milestone serves as a testament to the commitment of both nations towards fostering strong partnerships and driving economic progress in the region. The GOIL/SMB Bitumen Plant stands as a symbol of innovation and cooperation, laying the foundation for sustained growth and advancement in the infrastructure sector.
We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of this new facility as it contributes to the continued development of Ghana’s infrastructure and strengthens its position as a key player in the West African region.
