Suspend planned strike – FWSC pleads with CLOGSAG

In recent news, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has made a public appeal to the Civil and Local Governance Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to reconsider their decision to initiate a strike on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

Representing civil and local government workers, CLOGSAG declared their intention to strike due to the government's prolonged delay in implementing a previously negotiated salary structure. According to CLOGSAG, the failure of the government to execute the proposed salary adjustments, which were agreed upon in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over a year and a half ago, has left its members with no alternative but to take action.

However, the FWSC is urging CLOGSAG to refrain from the strike and instead return to the negotiating table. They have emphasized the government's dedication to resolving the salary dispute.

In a statement, the FWSC expressed, "We wish to emphasize that the government is prepared to engage CLOGSAG in finding lasting solutions to its demands without undermining the principles underpinning the Single Spine Pay Policy. We, therefore, urge CLOGSAG to rescind its decision to embark on the strike action and return to the negotiating table for a timely resolution of their concerns."

It is evident that both parties are committed to reaching an amicable resolution. As stakeholders monitor this situation closely, it is hoped that a mutually beneficial agreement will be reached through constructive dialogue and negotiation, ultimately ensuring the well-being of all involved.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation.
