300,000 bondholders plan MoF picket on July 6

The Ghana Police Service has been notified by the Coalition of Individual Bondholders Groups (IBHAG) of their intention to picket at the Ministry of Finance buildings in Accra starting on July 6, 2023.

They stated that the group consists of the Individual Bondholders Association of Ghana and the Individual Bondholders' Forum in a letter dated July 4, 2023 and jointly signed by the two organizations.

The letter said, "The Coalition represents about 300,000 individual bondholders as a whole."

From July 6, 2023, until our complaints are addressed, the Coalition plans to picket.

As stated in the MOU signed by the Coalition of Individual Bondholders' leadership and the Ministry of Finance on behalf of the government, "We shall be picketing to, among other things, draw governments attention to its failure to pay outstanding Principals due its members and the facilitation of the conversion of subsequent maturing bonds into treasury bills in the month of June and beyond." said Dr. Joel Djangma, Convener of IBHAG.

He asserts that the administration has not yet demonstrated any willingness to uphold this agreement in order to ease the suffering, hardships, and enormous stress experienced by the members.

The Coalition of Individual Bondholders, in the spirit of our National Anthem to Resist Oppressors, welcomes your corporation and professionalism in our quest to demand what is rightfully ours. "The government has taken over our properties without recourse to our fundamental rights to own property as stipulated in the highest law of the land," the letter concluded.
