AMA initiates Accra decongestion project

Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the AMA, in charge of the decongestion exercise

On Wednesday, July 12, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) began a decongestion exercise to clear the Central Business District (CBD) of traffic and enhance vehicular and pedestrian flow.

The Operation Clean Your Frontage initiative, which includes the decongestion exercise, aims to make Accra one of the cleanest cities in the world. It is being done with the assistance of sister assemblies.

Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the AMA, is in charge of the decongestion exercise, which started on Monday and is anticipated to go on until Thursday.

She spoke with merchants at Circle, explaining the purpose of the exercise and pleading with them to recognize its necessity.

She cautioned against selling on sidewalks since doing so puts merchants' lives at danger in addition to impeding pedestrian traffic.
