CETAG discontinues its services as of Tuesday, August 1

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) will stop providing teaching and related services as of Tuesday, August 1 due to complaints from its members.

In accordance with a press release issued following the National Delegates Conference, CETAG has decided that unless "our employer has complied with the Directives of the NLC," all tutors at the 46 public institutes of education would cease providing their services.

The National Labor Commission (NLC), according to CETAG, issued an Arbitrary Award Order on Tuesday, May 2.

The CETAG leadership has tried unsuccessfully on numerous occasions to get the government to follow the order.

The seven-month arrears in allowances due to members that result from the authorized conditions of service are being demanded in full by CETAG.

Additionally, it demands that each member receive one month's pay as "compensation for additional service done in the year 2022."

Additionally, it calls for the release of the Staff Audit report and the extending of the allowance rates for qualified employees at public universities.

Also, CETAG is pushing for the rapid publishing of a leave roster so that each tutor may take 15 working days off in 2022.

The last request is for "the unconditional revocation of the 'killing' all-year-round academic calendar effective 2023/2024 academic year."

The press statement on July 31 instructed that "every Branch Association shall act on this resolution with urgency and comply accordingly."
