Unanticipated drop in gas supply rectified – Ghana Gas

The unanticipated drop in natural gas supply to the power generation businesses on Friday, July 7, 2023 has been resolved, according to the Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGC), which has informed the general public.

The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant was temporarily shut down on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM due to an upset with our on-site power generation equipment, according to a statement from Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah, head of corporate communications. As a result, we delivered around 30% less gas to our downstream power and non-power clients.

According to the statement, engineers and outside contractors devotedly toiled around the clock to resume regular operations in 5 hours.

Ghana Gas said it established other plans for emergency mobile power generation units to allow natural gas to be transported to various power producing businesses during the 5-hour outage in order to manage the unexpected circumstance.

"We want to reassure everyone that the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant was resumed at 5:00 PM on July 7, 2023, and has since been operating fully and continuously.

"The policy of Ghana National Gas Limited Company of continuously improving our processes, enables us to strengthen our company as the strategic partner of the numerous power generation businesses, serving the people of Ghana.

The message emphasized that "we genuinely regret any inconvenience experienced by our valued customers."
