ECG introduces instant billing, shortening cycle time to 3 minutes

The revolutionary Spot Utility Billing System (SUBS), recently announced by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), represents a considerable improvement in the billing procedure. The SUBS technology was first trialed in Accra's Dome neighborhood before being swiftly adopted across the country.

This innovative tool, created by the fully Ghanaian-owned company Polymorph Labs Ghana Ltd, intends to transform the billing system by quickly producing bills for clients via numerous channels, such as printed sheets, mobile text messages, or emails.

The SUBS system's main goal is to address any inconsistencies in ECG's billing procedure by enabling prompt detection for additional inquiry.

The Engineering Manager of Polymorph Labs Ghana Ltd, Michael Agbo Tettey Soli, focused on the advantages of the technology and emphasized how it will significantly shorten the current 30-day billing cycle to just 3 minutes.

Customers may get real-time insights into their power use trends through this expedited billing procedure, which also streamlines the whole experience.

It is now possible for the District Commercial Managers at ECG to keep track of successfully read meters and bills that have been generated. The workload of meter readers has been dramatically lightened as a result of SUBS technology, and the amount of paper-based work has been cut by almost 80%.

Michael Tettey emphasized the system's resilience and guaranteed that it is impervious to manipulation.

Although the SUBS system now only works with post-paid meters, the long-term goal is to also integrate prepaid meters. Consumers have praised this new invention, praised ECG for its forward-thinking strategy, and urged the business to continue this enhanced system without going back to the old methodology. In addition to improving billing efficiency, this revolutionary move represents a giant step in modernizing and enhancing Ghana's electricity distribution industry.
