Police grant NDC Organizer bail; invites NPP’s Nsafoa for questioning

The Manhyia South Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has been granted bail by the Ashanti Region Police Command. Alhaji Mustapha was invited by the police for making threatening political remarks in a video that had circulated widely.

Accompanied by Regional Executives of the NDC, Alhaji Mustapha was turned over to the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID). A convoy from the party’s regional headquarters was followed by numerous party sympathizers who came out to show support for the Manhyia South Organizer.

The party’s lawyer, Chapman Zigga, announced that bail had been secured for Mustapha Alhasan, stating that he had been charged with "the offense of offensive conduct and threat of life." Alhaji Mustapha Alhasan is expected to report to the police headquarters on Monday, 26th February, while police processes a docket to commence prosecution.

In response to the incident, the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NDC, Nana Kwasi Andrews, condemned the comments made in the viral video but emphasized that the party would not
tolerate any acts of intimidation. He asserted the party's determination to win the 2024 elections and pursue its developmental agenda in the Ashanti Region.

The NDC remains focused on securing victory in December’s elections and is committed to bringing about positive developments in the Ashanti Region. The party is resolute in its efforts to see His Excellency John Dramani Mahama back in power.

Furthermore, the NDC's Ashanti Regional Secretary, Dr. Frank Amoahkohene, revealed that the police has agreed to invite one Emmanuel Nsafoah in connection with the case. Nsafoah is alleged to have engaged in a contentious exchange with the accused, during which inflammatory statements threatening war and bloodshed were made. He is being summoned by the police to provide clarification regarding his remarks.

The NDC is steadfast in its commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring a peaceful electoral process. The party remains dedicated to its objectives and will continue to engage in constructive political discourse as it works towards its goals.
