Provide proof of voter registration disparities at the IPAC meeting - EC to NDC

The upcoming Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, has garnered significant attention as the Electoral Commission (EC) calls for collaborative efforts to address any concerns regarding the Provisional Voters Register (PVR).

In a press release issued on Monday, September 30, the EC emphasized the importance of stakeholders bringing forth evidence and data to support any discrepancies or concerns they may have with the PVR. This approach, according to the EC, will facilitate a constructive dialogue aimed at resolving any outstanding issues related to the register.

Notably, the EC highlighted that despite repeated requests, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has not yet provided data on the alleged discrepancies it has raised and for which it has demanded a forensic audit of the PVR. The EC has expressed its expectation for the NDC and other stakeholders to present their data at the forthcoming IPAC meeting.

Furthermore, the EC reaffirmed its commitment to working with IPAC to address any concerns, emphasizing that the production of the Final Voters Register is an ongoing process, not a one-time event.

In response, the NDC has reiterated its call for live media coverage of the IPAC meeting. Dr. Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of IT and Elections, emphasized in a Facebook post that live coverage would provide real-time, unbiased information on the state of the 2024 voter register following the EC’s self-audit process.

The ongoing dialogue between the NDC and EC regarding alleged discrepancies in the voter register has led to continued calls from the NDC for a forensic audit to address these issues. Dr. Boamah emphasized that the discrepancies remain unresolved and reiterated the need for public access to the IPAC discussions in real time.

As the IPAC meeting approaches, it is imperative for all stakeholders to engage in constructive and evidence-based discussions to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the Provisional Voters Register. The outcome of this meeting will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for the electoral process, and it is essential that all parties involved work together to address any concerns in a transparent and collaborative manner.
