2024 Voters’ Register to be ready by the first week of November - Jean Mensa

The Electoral Commission (EC) has recently announced that the certified voters’ register for the 2024 general elections is set to be ready by the first week of November. This important update was shared by EC chairperson, Jean Mensa, during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, October 15th.

Madam Mensa provided assurance to political parties and stakeholders that the EC is dedicated to producing an accurate and comprehensive voter register. She emphasized that the final register will encompass all eligible voters from registration exercises conducted in 2020, 2023, and 2024.

Furthermore, the EC Chair explained that the Commission has been diligently working to address any inconsistencies in the provisional register, ensuring its reliability for the upcoming elections.

“Over the last two weeks, we have spent our energies to clean the PVR to ensure the information presented on the register is accurate. Simply put, we have worked to ensure that every applicant who registered in 2020, 2023, and 2024 is in the voters’ register,” she stated.

Madam Mensa added, “We are confident that the revised PVR that we present starting today is a marked departure from the register we presented during the exhibition exercise, as largely all the discrepancies presented to date have been fixed.”

This update from the EC signifies a significant step towards ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process for the 2024 general elections. The commitment of the EC to address any discrepancies and produce an accurate voters’ register is crucial in upholding the integrity of the electoral system.

As we approach the upcoming elections, it is imperative for all stakeholders to remain engaged and informed about these developments. The readiness of the certified voters’ register by the first week of November marks a pivotal milestone in the preparations for the 2024 general elections. Stay tuned for further updates as we progress towards this important event.
