A bag of cement was GH₵25 under NDC, but now it is more than GH₵100 – Mahama

In a recent announcement, Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his dedication to achieving economic stability within the country. Mahama emphasized that a stable economy is pivotal in curbing the escalating prices of essential commodities such as food and fuel.

Highlighting the NDC's track record in effectively managing an economy for the benefit of all Ghanaians, Mahama recalled that during his previous term in office, the price of cement stood at GHS25. However, under the current administration, this price has surged to GHS100.

Taking to Facebook, Mahama stated, "I am committed to leading a team that will stabilize and transform the economy. This transformation will mitigate the daily surge in prices of essential products such as fuel, food, and general goods, ultimately leading to a reduction in prices."

Drawing attention to the significant price disparities, Mahama pointed out that during the NDC's tenure, a bag of cement cost GH₵25, whereas it now exceeds GH₵100. Additionally, fuel, which cost GH₵14 per gallon in 2016, has skyrocketed to over GH₵70. These stark differences underscore the pressing need to stabilize the economy and make goods and services more affordable for the populace.

Mahama also addressed the adverse impact of the current administration's economic policies on rural dwellers, assuring them that a future NDC government would alleviate their financial burdens.

The commitment to stabilizing the economy and reducing the cost of living for Ghanaians stands as a cornerstone of Mahama's vision for the country. As the election approaches, this pledge holds significant weight in addressing the everyday concerns of the populace.

With a focus on economic stability and affordability, Mahama's message resonates with many Ghanaians who seek relief from the current economic challenges. It remains to be seen how these promises will materialize in the political landscape, but the emphasis on economic well-being is undoubtedly a central theme in the upcoming election discourse.
