As Ghana prepares for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on 7 December 2024, a significant initiative has been announced to promote peace and unity in the lead-up to the elections. The "PeaceGoals2024" event, organized by the Organisation for African Development (OAD), is set to take place in Accra on Saturday, 9 November 2024.

One of the key highlights of this event is the participation of renowned football legends, including Brazilian star Ronaldinho Gaúcho and former Black Stars Legends such as Abedi Pele, Asamoah Gyan, Tony Yeboah, and others. Their involvement underscores a strong message of support for peace in Ghana during this critical time.

The Founder of the Organisation for African Development (OAD), Mr. Bonaventure Aguissi, recently met with President Akufo-Addo to extend an invitation for his participation in the "PeaceGoals2024" event. The President welcomed the initiative and emphasized the importance of securing the participation of all 13 presidential candidates at the event. This demonstrates a unified commitment to using football as a platform to promote peace and stability before, during, and after the elections.

The "PeaceGoals2024" event aims to bring together presidential and parliamentary candidates, as well as various stakeholders including religious and traditional leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, and thought leaders. The event will feature a Peace Convocation followed by a Legends Football Match, showcasing the universal appeal of football in fostering unity and cooperation.

In addition to promoting peace, the event will also serve as a platform for charitable endeavors, with a percentage of proceeds being donated to worthy causes. This reflects a broader commitment to social responsibility and community development.

Through the "PeaceGoals2024" initiative, the Organisation for African Development (OAD) seeks to set a positive example for the voting public, demonstrating the value of peaceful co-existence and collaboration among individuals with diverse political views. By leveraging football, culture, and music, the initiative aims to promote peace and social cohesion, setting a tone of unity and camaraderie as Ghana approaches this pivotal moment in its democratic process.

The "PeaceGoals2024" event represents a significant step towards ensuring a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful electoral process in Ghana. It serves as a powerful reminder of the potential for sports and cultural events to transcend boundaries and inspire positive change in society.

As the countdown to the "PeaceGoals2024" event begins, there is a palpable sense of anticipation and optimism surrounding the impact it will have on fostering a climate of peace and cooperation in Ghana. It is an opportunity for all Ghanaians to come together in support of a common goal – a peaceful and prosperous future for their nation.
