Ignore claims of gas shortage, we have enough to meet national demand - NPA

We would like to address recent claims suggesting a possible shortage of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country. The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) would like to clarify that there is no impending shortage of LPG in the country.

The temporary shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant for maintenance work did affect the supply of LPG to the western part of the country. As a result, suppliers had to rely on Tema for the usual supply of the product over the past few days.

We would like to assure the public that normal supply from the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant will resume from 15th October. The NPA has been closely monitoring the situation and has taken necessary steps to ensure that there is no disruption in the supply of LPG.

It is important to note that there is an adequate supply of LPG in the country to meet national demand. The opening stock of LPG as of 9th October 2024 was enough to last almost two weeks of national consumption. Additionally, the Sentuo Oil Refinery is also producing LPG, further contributing to the supply in the market.

We understand the importance of LPG as a clean and efficient source of energy for many households and businesses in the country. The NPA remains committed to ensuring a stable and reliable supply of LPG to meet the needs of consumers.

We urge the public to remain assured that there is no cause for concern regarding the availability of LPG, and we will continue to work diligently to maintain a steady supply across the country. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
