Mahama Promises Youth-Focused Job Creation in New Administration

President John Mahama, sworn in on January 7th, 2025, has pledged to make job creation for Ghana's youth a central focus of his new administration.  Speaking after his decisive victory in the December 7th, 2024 election, President Mahama interpreted the result as a strong mandate from the youth, stating that their voices and futures are paramount.

He emphasized a collaborative approach with the business community, promising policies designed to nurture innovation and create "decent and well-paying jobs."  This commitment will be pursued through four key policy areas: economic restoration and stabilization; improvement of the business and investment environment; governance and constitutional reforms; and accountability and the fight against corruption.

President Mahama explicitly extended an invitation to businesses and investors, declaring that "Ghana is open for business again."  A key element of this renewed business-friendly environment will be a more transparent and equitable tax regime aimed at stimulating economic growth.  He stated, “We will rationalise our tax systems to make them fair and transparent.

The business community must know that Ghana is open for business again,” adding an appeal for collaboration: “Join me in shaping a new business environment.”  This commitment to a more transparent and supportive business climate signals a clear intention to foster economic growth and create the employment opportunities promised to Ghana's youth.
