88 hospitals under development under Agenda 111 – Oppong Nkrumah

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the minister of information, has disclosed that 88 of the 111 hospitals listed in "Agenda 111" are now being built.

President Nana Akufo-Addo launched the initiative, which calls for the construction of 111 hospitals, on August 17, 2021, with a commitment to finish it in 18 months.

Obtaining property for building in some districts has been difficult, raising questions about the government's commitment to the projects.

The government is however optimistic that all of the hospitals will be finished before President Akufo-second Addo's term comes to a conclusion.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said that some of the hospitals that are behind schedule have been cancelled during a news conference in Trede, Ashanti region, where the project was launched two years ago.

"According to the information I have, there are currently 54 projects spread over eight different zones, totaling 88 that are under construction. After visiting 33 sites thus far, we decided that since Trede was the starting point, it was crucial to present the progress made there.

We have also shared with you the reports of the websites we have visited, the majority of which are performing well and the few that are lagging behind. We have also informed you of the sites we have had to shut down due to lagging behind.

The project will have enough financing to be completed, according to Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the president's health advisor.

When finished, he added, these facilities will provide job opportunities for nurses and support Ghana's general economic development.
