Assin North by-election voting underway

Today, Tuesday, June 27, voting has begun in the Assin North constituency for the by-election.

Voting began at 7 AM and is scheduled to end at 5 PM.

The Police guaranteed that sufficient security measures had been implemented within the Constituency to maintain peace and order and to ensure security before, during, and after the election.

The Police Management Board (POMAB) also convened a meeting with key election participants on Monday at the request of the Inspector-General of Police, including the Electoral Commission, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The goal of the meeting was to improve cooperation among all participants in order to ensure a peaceful election.

All of the stakeholders' security concerns were acknowledged during the discussion and taken into account when developing the election's final security plan.

"Yet, the spread of misleading information on social media is a worry that all the stakeholders want the public to assist them in addressing. In this regard, the police urged the public to exercise caution when reporting on the election and to avoid disseminating false information that can cause a riot since they would take appropriate legal action against those found guilty, according to a statement they released.

The National Chairman and National Organiser led the NPP team, while the National Chairman and General Secretary led the NDC team. The Director of Operations of the Electoral Commission served as the head of that body, and the LPG was also directed by its National Secretary and Regional executives.

"We want to encourage the residents of the Assin North constituency to go about their daily lives freely, including going to the polls to fulfill their civic duty of voting.

"We would like to express our gratitude to all of our stakeholders for their cooperation thus far, and we look forward to the same level of collaboration for the final round of the election to ensure a safe, secure, and peaceful exercise," the statement added.
