E/R: Young woman found drowned with sack loaded with stones

We are deeply saddened to report on a tragic incident that has shaken the Upper Manya Krobo district in the Eastern Region. A young woman was mysteriously found drowned in the River Afram in the Akotoe community, sending shockwaves through the local population.

The discovery of the victim's body, floating near the shore, prompted witnesses to urgently inform community Elders. Subsequent investigations at the scene revealed disturbing evidence of foul play. It was revealed that the 18-year-old female victim had a sack loaded with stones tied around her waist, in an apparent attempt to conceal her body.

Despite the perpetrators' efforts, the weight of the stones failed to submerge her, leaving her remains visible. Authorities were promptly alerted, and an official report was filed with the police. The victim's body has been retrieved and transported to the police hospital morgue in Accra for further investigation.

Akor Samuel Odehi, the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization, confirmed the details of the incident to Starr FM. He stated that the community members had made a distressing discovery and reported it to him. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the young lady had been killed, and an attempt had been made to conceal her body using the sack of stones.

The community is understandably on edge as speculation surrounds the circumstances of the young woman’s demise. This tragic event has occurred amidst recent cases of mysterious killings of women in the Krobo enclave, adding to the heightened sense of unease.

In a recent development, one suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime. Shockingly, he allegedly confessed to the killings but claimed that a chop bar operator had hired him to commit the act for certain rituals.

The entire community is reeling from this distressing turn of events, and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time. We hope that thorough investigations will be conducted, and justice will be served for the young woman whose life was tragically cut short.
