We have the ability to provide armored bullion cars for banks - ABOG

Alhaji Iddi Sumaila, the president of the Association of Bullion Operators Ghana (ABOG), has promised that the organization's members have the ability to acquire sufficient suitable bullion vehicles, provided that the banks can grant favorable contracts.

He revealed that some of the business owners had brought in between forty and sixty bullion trucks to Ghana.

"My company has 40 bullion cars, and one of our members has brought in approximately 60, so we have the potential. In terms of capability, we can able to bring the automobiles in thanks to the cooperation of our banks and financial institutions. Also, we will accept any bank's excellent contract that ensures we will receive the vehicles. How are we going to get the vehicles in if they don't give us a fair contract? During 3FM Sunrise, Alhaji Iddi Sumaila spoke with Johnnie Hughes.

President ABOG claims that the armored bullion vans have already been provided to the banks, such as ADB, who have granted them the contracts.

A decent bullion vehicle costs between $90,000 and $120,000 USD, he said once more. Nonetheless, there are businesses in Ghana that refit light-skinned trucks by arming them appropriately for the job.

Instead of the original date of July 1, 2023, the Bank of Ghana has ordered banks to stop using soft skin bullion vehicles for cash-in-transit activities as of Monday, June 26, 2023.

Several stakeholders have requested that BOG give the banks some breathing room as they take into account the current difficulties facing Ghana's financial institutions and the effects of the domestic debt exchange on their daily operations.

Nonetheless, ABOG has guaranteed that its members are ready and able to deliver the armored bullion vans to the banks if they are given a contract.
