Driver and his mate hospitalised after accident at Bunso

We regret to report that a driver and his mate were involved in a serious accident in the early hours of Friday, October 11, 2024, at Bunso.

The driver, who was operating a DAF XF long vehicle loaded with goods from Togo and en route to Kumasi, reportedly lost control of the vehicle after nodding off at the wheel, causing the truck to veer off the road and overturn. This resulted in the collapse of a high-tension pole belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), prompting an immediate power cut to prevent further incidents.

Emergency services including the Ambulance Service, Ghana Fire Service, and Ghana Police Service swiftly responded to the scene to extricate the trapped driver and mate. Both individuals were promptly transported to the Tafo Government Hospital for urgent medical attention.

In the aftermath of the accident, engineers from the Begoro ECG conducted an assessment at the site, although it remains uncertain when the damaged pole will be replaced and power fully restored.

Our thoughts are with the driver and his mate as they receive medical care, and we urge all road users to prioritize safety and vigilance while driving. We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
